The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

I LOVE Christmas and last year started kind of a little tradition whereby me and my little monster go to stay at my Parent's house on Christmas Eve. This started because it's just me and my son for Christmas in our house and it's just my parents in their house. My parents are great and have been a big help to me and my son. They're constantly pushing and supporting both of us. So last year I thought it would be great to have them there for Christmas morning when Santa's been. Oh does my son love it! It's so much more exciting too.

Last year I did Christmas dinner at my house so this year my mum and dad decided to do it. I volunteered for dessert. I have to admit I overwhelmed myself with options and ended up totally stumped on what to do. Then I had an idea as I finished the Nativity cake...I would make inidividual cakes. So on Christmas Eve I quickly russled up 4 individual cakes with a penguin theme. They went down a treat and my monster got a real kick out of all the different penguin scenes.

Here's our little wintery cakes....

Christmas Time

What better way to celebrate Christmas than with some cake!
I was asked to make a nativity cake showing Jesus' birth. I decided that instead of doing the stable etc I would do some of the figures who were involved in what happened that night. So most importantly we have Jesus, Mary and Joesph. Then I added the Angel who foretold the birth to the shepherds )which are symbolised with a sheep). I figured if I did the shepherds there would do zero room on the cake! I also put on the three wise men each bearing their gift. Lastly I put the star which the wise men followed that shone over the stable.
I wanted to find a way to show the star where it was meant to be...hello springy wire. I actually think it finished off the cake nicely as I have all the figures looking up at the star...and also the people eating the cake!

So here's my Nativity cake...
